“The world I paint is a world of the past. Here I find a world of calm, warm light, and of human presence felt but not depicted.” Joanna was born in Krakow, the art and poetry capitol of Poland. She studied art at the Krakow Academy of Art and received her MFA in painting and graphics. Her most important influences are Vermeer, Schiele, and Vuillard.

Joanna’s work is both expressive and emotional. Her use of colors, reminiscent of the Fauve painters, emerges with luminosity from a blackened background.
